Sulawesi Shrimp Cardinal

A very unusual and colorful species of aquarium shrimp from the islands of Sulawesi (Indonesia). A distinctive feature is the bright white front paws, which the shrimp constantly moves quickly, long white mustache (1.5 body length) and bright dots all over the body.

Shades of Cardinal color can range from dark red to light red, and the intensity of color is not an indicator of the condition, age or sex of the shrimp. Contrasting white dots scattered throughout the cardinal's body may have a blue border.

Such food spreads throughout the aquarium and provides food for all shrimp. This is especially important for the fry of the Cardinals. They are very timid and try to find the most comfortable places in the aquarium. In addition, shrimp will be happy to feed on green fouling on rocks and roots - this is their main type of food in nature.

Keeping Shrimp Cardinal

For the successful maintenance and breeding of Sulawesi Cardinal, it is necessary to provide water parameters similar to their natural environment. Some of our customers use tap water that is suitable for the parameters. But there is a possibility of losing the population due to the sharp deterioration of tap water quality.

In our aquariums we use water after the reverse osmosis system + specialized mineralizers for this type of shrimp TM SaltyShrimp . This allows you to keep the chemical composition of water unchanged.

Once a week you need to do a 15% water change. The population density of these shrimp is not critical. We keep our Cardinals in a 70 liter aquarium, and a herd of more than 300 tails feels quite comfortable.

This type of shrimp reaches a size of 1.5-1.8 cm in length. Males are slightly smaller than females. Females have caviar saddles under the shell, but due to the rich color of the shell it is almost impossible to distinguish them.
