Rotala Blood Red
Rotala Blood Red (Rotala sp. ‘Blood Red’) is a striking aquarium stem plant known for its intense red coloration. Under favorable conditions, the growing tips can develop a vivid blood-red color, making the plant an eye-catching accent in an aquascape.
It is a relatively fast-growing stem plant that is best planted in groups in the midground or background. Regular trimming encourages lateral shoots and helps create a dense, compact group.
Care requirements:
- Type: Stem plant
- Placement: Midground / background
- Lighting: Medium to high
- CO₂: Recommended for active growth and vibrant coloration
- Temperature: Approximately 22–28 °C
- pH: 5.5–7.5
- Hardness: Soft to medium
- Growth rate: Moderate to fast
To achieve intense red coloration, the plant requires sufficient lighting, a stable CO₂ supply, and balanced nutrition. Regular supplementation of macro- and micronutrients promotes healthy growth and vibrant coloration.
Tip: To create a dense and attractive group, regularly trim the growing tips and replant the healthy cuttings into the substrate next to the mother plants.
